Two parameters control how PostgreSQL records client connections and disconnections. Both parameters are off by default. Based on your organization's security requirements, you may want to set one of these to 1 and the other to 0 (unless you are using a tool like pgBadger – more on that later). PostgreSQL supports the full set of SQL date and time types, shown in Table 8.9.The operations available on these data types are described in Section 9.9.Dates are counted according to the Gregorian calendar, even in years before that calendar was introduced (see Section B.6 for more information).
